no way the old site will return? At the same location, most likely not. BUT ~ the "old" site could possibly be restored elsewhere. What is being "missed" is the MyBB software and the many customizations we had in place. not to mention the membership database. We are exploring ways to either over-come deficits or start anew. Our goal is to have a familiar, functioning forum that is as close to COST FREE as possible, but yet at a server that is independent of hostage taking. Thanks for bearing with us as we work like beavers on the best solution for us all.  |

Haven't done anything with mybb but most of things if you backup the main database all the usernames are in there with it. |

Munchaab and a forum friend are working on the coding ~ our last complete backup was several months back and there is the question of the various versions of MyBB software and SQL ~ they don't necessarily play well together, e.g., backwards compatibility, etc.. You see, we do NOT have access to the previous server where all the goodies were ~ we're working from off-site backups. If and when we can get a restoration going, we'll have to put the windows, doors and appliances in the right spots and finally replace the curtains and make sure the roof don't leak. It takes a bit of time ~ but we're workin' on it!

Hosting companies are only after yer dosh .... once you don't pay them, then 'some' will keep your files etc for a week or so before deletion (they re-use the webspace .... they don't leave it sitting doing nothing) but others will delete it all after only a day or two! |
